Engaging the rural community

Community activities to engage the rural community , teaching of new skills , creation of a local source of income and participation in our Agro - Reforestation Project .

Hiring of local labour - packing of the bananas en route to market
Handling the storage and harvest of the farm products

Pumpkin - ( abobora moranga )
Workshops : handicrafts work shops to create local employment using the bambú from the farm
Farm shop assistants : sale of the farm produce that will include honey from “ abelhas sem ferrão “

Long term :
Packing of o preserves - jams - jellies- made from the exotic fruits of the Tropical Orchard
EMATER - will run free of charge with all the utensils and location to teach the making of the jams , preserves ,jellies in groups of 15 participants

Handicrafts made from bambú - EMATER has offered to run workshops and train a group of 14 residents from the rural areas near the farm The raw material is bambú which is grows wild and prolific Teaching of new skills Creation of handicrafts that can be sold at the nearest market town Conservatoria and it’s many craft shops They will learn new skills in order to manufacture sell and have an income from their handicrafts
Further down the line we are planning , in partnership with EMATER Engenheiro Florestal Felipe Fernandes , to produce our own honey by creating specific hives for native bees “ abelha sem ferrão”
